Local government reorganisation delayed again
Tuesday 30 July 2009
The Secretary of State has agreed to delay again the date when the Boundary Committee will publish its proposals for Norfolk, Suffolk and Devon. This follows a decision in the High Court on a judicial review by Suffolk councils, where the Court ruled that the Boundary Committee should have considered in detail a different concept proposed for Suffolk.
That means there is a possibility that the whole process may have to be reviewed, to look at other concepts put forward in Norfolk and Devon as well as Suffolk, but the Boundary Committee has been given leave to appeal the judgment. Therefore the Secretary of State has decided to wait until the date of the appeal is determined before setting a new date for the Boundary Committee to report to him.
